Sourcing
Sourcing the highest quality ingredients is the life force of Nahla Earth. We are transparent about where our ingredients come from because we view food as information.
As a species, we have become disconnected from our ancestral ways of eating.
For 1000s of years, food was this community driven process where tribes would become one with the food before they ate it, whether that was foraging for plants or bringing back meat to the tribe after a hunt.
Now, we eat food with ingredients which have no reconciliation with the vitality of life.
You go to your local supermarket and pick up plastic wrapped food without knowing the origins of the contents.
We come home and eat with a TV on in the background without sitting down with others to share in the process of eating.
Zach Bush MD articulated this extremely well:
‘The hunger gatherers will kill a zebra, cauter it and carry it for two days back to the tribe on their shoulders, bare skin. In those two days, the Zebra bacteria becomes their skin. They become the hyde of the Zebra. They come back and all the tribe immediately climb over the people who have just returned. They are welcomed back into the family. There are hugs and physical contact. There are no clothes so there is no barrier between the Zebra skin and the tribe. They then eat the Zebra meat. They do not consume that animal until they have become the animal. No wonder they find so much vitality in their food’
While we cannot emulate the hunter gatherer lifestyle, we can provide transparency and as much information as possible around where the ingredients in our products come from.
We do this, so you can begin to view the food you are consuming as information as opposed to just seeing beef as beef or chicken as chicken.
